Invitation To Submit
The ACE 2025 Conference will provide a forum that allows us to discuss experiences, and review concepts and ideas. The Organising Committee will be seeking to create a program that addresses a spread of issues and professional experiences that attract a broad discipline of attendees. We welcome you to submit an abstract for inclusion into the program.

Special Sessions
You can choose one session topic relevant to your presentation from the list below if you wish your presentation to be considered for inclusion in/with a Special Session:
- Macroeconomics and Covid
- Energy Markets
- Experimental and Behaviour Economics
- Housing
- Macroeconomics and Energy
- Australian and International Trade
- Labour and Covid
- Water Policy
All authors who have their submission accepted for presentation must register and pay for their attendance, at a minimum, for the day of the Conference on which they are presenting. Accepted presenters will be given access to early bird discounted registration rates.
Oral Presentation:
Each contributed paper will be allocated 30 minutes (of which it is expected that 20 minutes would be for the presentation, and 10 minutes for questions and discussion).
Submission Details
- Submissions must be received no later than 30 March 2025.
- Submissions must be submitted electronically via the presentation portal.
- Submissions may be made either in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Portable Document File (.pdf) format, and should be named as the title of the paper.
- Only one submission per presenter is permitted.
- Extended abstracts should be at least 500 words and include clear statements about:
o the research question(s) addressed;
o how the research question(s) relate to the existing literature;
o motivation for studying the research question;
o details of the methodology applied and any preliminary findings. - A biography of the proposed presenter must be provided (to be used by the session Chair to introduce speakers) and should be no longer than 250 words.
Criteria
Criteria used to review proposed presentations will include:
- The significance of the topic to economic research and policy;
- The extent of the original contribution;
- The soundness of the methodology and interpretation of findings;
- The clarity of presentation;
- Preference will be given to those who submit full papers and meet the above criteria to a high degree.
Terms and Conditions for Presenters
- All presenters will be expected to pay the Conference registration fee and are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
- Presenters must be registered by 31 May 2025 (close of Early Bird) when the final program will be prepared.
- The decision of the Conference Committee will be final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
Prior to the Conference
- All presenters must be registered.
- Prepare your PowerPoint presentation in 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Save your presentation to a USB for upload in the Speaker Preparation Room onsite.
- Please do not send your presentation to Leishman Associates prior to the Conference.
At the Conference
- Collect your name badge from the Registration Desk upon arrival.
- Check-in to the Speaker Preparation Room, prior to your scheduled session to ensure your presentation is uploaded and all presenter requirements have been satisfied. Your presentation must be uploaded at least 2-3 hours before your scheduled presentation time; this may mean the day before your presentation.
- If you have audio and/or video in your presentation, please ensure you have the files saved separately as embedding the media does not always include them in the PowerPoint file. This will allow the Technical Team to re-embed and/or change the format of the video onsite if needed.
- If you are using custom fonts not found in the standard system fonts, please use the “Embed fonts in file” feature found in Save As/tools/save options. This will ensure that your fonts travel with the PowerPoint file when saved.
- Please ensure the contents of your presentation including photos, data, graphs etc. are generated by yourself, referenced or the appropriate owner has granted you permission to include their work for educational purposes.
- It’s important to note that presentations cannot be uploaded in the plenary room. It is your responsibility to check that your presentation has been loaded and is displayed correctly prior to the commencement of your session.
Each room will be equipped with the following:
- Data projector
- Screen
- Microphone
- Lectern
- Laser pointer
- Laptop (presenter view)
- Wi-Fi access

During your session
- Arrive in the session room 10 minutes before the start of your session to introduce yourself to the session chair.
- The Session Chair will introduce you and your presentation title, so there is no need for you to repeat this.
- The Session Chair will keep you on time.
- Each session room is equipped with a windows-based PC, data projection facility and speaker monitor. Be sure to test your presentation in the Speaker Preparation Room.
After the Conference
Your PowerPoint slides (PDF Format) will be posted on the Conference website Post-Conference. You are required to give your permission for your presentation to be uploaded to the Conference website.
Please be aware that this event may be video recorded and the footage may be posted online for promotional or archival purposes. Your participation implies consent to potentially being filmed and your image or likeness being used in such materials. If you have any concerns or objections to being recorded, please notify the organisers in advance.
Special ACE 2022 Conference Issue of the Economic Record
Participants are reminded that a Special Conference Issue of the Economic Record will be published based on papers presented at ACE2022. The editors for the ACE2022 Special Issue of the Economic Record will be Darla Hatton MacDonald and Clinton Levitt.
Submissions to the Special Issue of the Economic Record are to be made online at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ecor and follow the journal’s author guidelines. Please indicate in the cover letter that you would like your paper to be considered for the Economic Record’s ACE 2022 Special Issue. To be considered for the Special Issue submission needs to be completed by 31stJuly 2022. The review process is expedited, with first-round decisions to be completed by November 2022 and all final decisions completed by May 2023. The Special Issue of the Economic Record based on ACE2022 will be published in June 2023.
Special Issue of Economic Papers from the 2022 Australian Conference of Economists
Economic Papers is calling for submissions for a special conference issue from papers presented at the 2022 Australian Conference of Economists (ACE2022). All presenters and their co-authors are invited to contribute papers to this issue, which will be reviewed as per the journal policy. The editors for the ACE2022 Special Issue of Economic Papers will be Joaquin Vespignani and Markus Bruckner.
Submissions to the Special Issue of Economic Papers are to be made online at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ecpa and follow the journal’s author guidelines. Please indicate in the cover letter that you would like your paper to be considered for Economic Papers’ ACE 2022 Special Issue. The deadline for submission of papers is 31st August 2022. First-round decisions are expected to be completed by December 2022 and all final decisions completed by May 2023. The ACE2022 Special Issue of Economic Papers will be published in June 2023.
